My Ultimate Favourite Products for Sensitive Skin

Hello guys and gals.

Today, we’re talking all things skincare. More specifically, sensitive skincare. But, my favourite part about this post is that the products I’m going to be talking about can be used by anybody, and I mean anybody. Oily T-zone? Yep. Skin drier than the Sahara desert? You should definitely stick around. Skin more sensitive than a girl on her period? Yes, yes, yes!

As my skin is super sensitive, and I mean, sensitive, I will only use products that I know won’t irritate my skin which is why I like using natural products. I recently bought both The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Day Cream Moisturiser and the Aloe Soothing Rescue Cream Mask, and they have been so wonderful for my skin!

Both products are gentle for the skin and free from fragrance, colour and alcohol (basically all the nasty stuff no one wants on their skin). If you suffer from sensitive and dry skin, then I would highly, highly recommend buying these products. Trust me, your skin will thank you! I use the day cream every morning and it sits perfectly underneath make up too. I only use the cream mask two times a week, before going to bed and I just love drenching my face in this stuff – legitimately wake up with baby soft skin in the morning.

Seeing as The Body Shop website currently has 25% off on these items, I think I may have to indulge myself. Now you have no excuse not to try these out. So haul ass!

I hope you guys have enjoyed my mini skincare post. I love sharing amazing products with you all, it’s good for the soul (not so good for the bank balance). If you guys have any sensitive skin product recommendations then fire them my way! #SharingIsCaring

Where have I been and what have I been doing?

Hello to all you lovely people reading this!

Gosh, it sure has been a while since I sat down and started writing a blog post. Yeah, a real long while.

Much has happened since my last post… in September! Get out of here, it has not been that long. Has it? 7 months? Well, there is definitely one thing that hasn’t changed since then: England is still rainy. How awful is that?

Aside from the dreary weather updates, what has been going on in the last 8 months… Have I been in hibernation? Did I move to another planet? Or did I quit my hectic life, move to another island and decide that I now want to be a technology-less hermit? The answer is *cue drumroll* I started my MSc in Digital Marketing in September, and have barely had time to look up from my assignments, reports and usual boring stuff that happens at university. So, nothing interesting then. Nothing that involved moving to a beautiful remote island or ditching my phone for an ice cold margarita. Ugh, that would have been so much more exciting. At least I can say that, that is a dream in the pipeline.

Now that I’ve put an end to my not-so-mini hiatus from WispyLashes, let’s chat. If you fancy a lil’ girly chat, put on your comfy clothes, grab a cuppa, cosy up with lots of blankets and cushions, and enjoy this read. I say I won’t make this super long, but I’m not so sure about that, so you may as well get comfortable.

But wait, where do I start? Let’s rewind all the way back to September 2017. Just imagine me getting out my old VCR recording and turning it all the way back. It’s only been 8 months, but here I am talking like I’m Rose in the final scene of the Titanic. Although, it does feel like it has been 82 years.

Okay, okay back on track. So, I decided to do a Masters in digital marketing. Yep, and what a great decision that has been. I’ve never enjoyed/hated something more in my life. This degree has been so exciting, I’ve learnt new things, met some incredible people and overall had an amazing experience. But (there’s always a but), I genuinely forgot how much work comes along with university. How could I forget you must be wondering. Well, let’s just say I had a pretty naive idea that a postgraduate degree would be the equivalent of third year at undergrad level… and then more some, and I thought I could manage that. Oh, how wrong was I! An assignment every 3 weeks? 8 hours of classes with only an hour break in between? … *long gasp*... Group work? That’s not what I expected. I can almost hear a Miranda Priestly-like voice in my head right now: “What, you didn’t expect any actual work at postgraduate level and just thought you’d waltz through the year and get a first? Hm.”

So, anyway, I’ve handed in my penultimate piece of work, and I am headed off to Austria for 3 weeks in July. How exciting! Well, only if you ignore the fact that I’m going to a summer school and I will have classes 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. Oh. Well, I am sure that I will have some time to explore beautiful Vienna, and definitely be able to soak up the sun (once I’m out of the classroom). So, what can be worse than going to a summer school over the summer? Why, writing a 9,000 word report afterwards of course.

Let’s just not even focus on any of that for now, and talk about something a little more exciting. Something like going to India in October to see my husband! I still cannot believe that he is not yet in the UK. I think setting up life on a new planet would actually be less time consuming. No, but seriously, the Home Office has absolutely no concept of reality and the idea that they are splitting up two people in love, it’s heartbreaking. But, I don’t want think post to be about my strong dislike for immigration procedures (trust me,  you’d be scrolling for a while). Hopefully, the end of 2018 will be more fruitful than the beginning.

So, I hope you guys enjoyed this mini comeback post, I know I cannot wait to get back to making some content! I have a lot of good ideas planned, and I am super excited. I want to add something new and fresh to this blog, and I also want to include some aspects of my own life, which I hadn’t really done much of before. Thank you to all of you who take the time to read my posts, it means a lot (and a lot).

I’ll be back next week with some more exciting, new content, catch you soon!

My August Beauty Favourites

My everyday makeup look doesn’t really tend to change as I’m all about the soft glam – think Kourtney Kardashian – but I do like experimenting with new makeup products. August has been all about old favourites and some newbies. So get comfy guys because you’re in for a long read.

I know I’ve raved about the Nude Cushion Stick Foundation* so many times now, but it really deserves all the praise it gets. When I want something quick and easy that will still make my skin look flawless, I will 100% reach for this foundation. It’s a sheer coverage foundation and it just makes my skin look so nice and glowy. I can apply more layers of this foundation for more coverage without it looking cakey or overdone. I’ve spoken about this foundation in more depth in this post if you want to check out how awesome it really is.

I have recently rediscovered an old favourite of mine which is the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation*. I was literally obsessed with this foundation last summer and I wore it on a regular basis without ever switching to anything else because it honestly had everything I wanted it. It’s a semi matte finish but I still have a nice glow to the skin, and it’s really buildable so I can go for medium to full coverage depending on what I want. There isn’t a huge shade range which really sucks, so I always find that the colours are either too light or too dark for my skin tone, so I mix in some of my Estee Lauder Double Wear in Cashew just to give it more of a yellow undertone.

Left – Maybelline Fit Me Concealer / Right – NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

I have probably mentioned this before but I am unfortunately plagued with dark under eye circles, lucky me. What’s worse is that if I don’t get a good night’s sleep then those dark circles are even more profound. So it is essential that I have the best concealer that works for me. Ever since I bought the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer* I have been using it religiously. It is full coverage without looking thick and cakey, it doesn’t crease and it is so pigmented that it completely hides any darkness. I only use the smallest amount because a little definitely goes a long way with this product. There are also a lot of shades to choose from and suit every skin tone.

I like having a bright undereye look so I usually follow up with my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer* This is a super light weight concealer and it is so pigmented. I just dab on a couple of dots and blend them out to brighten up the inner corner hollow of my under eye area.

Left – Sephora Eye Pencil / Right – ABH Brow Wiz

I have been using my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Granite religiously for about a year now and it is definitely a holy grail product for me. It is so easy to use and the product is amazing. The pencil has a waxy consistency and it literally glides onto my brows. It’s the perfect product to use when I’m in a rush as it’s so easy to use. I like to outline my brows with this pencil and fill them in with small + precise strokes. I then follow up with my NYX Brow Gel to set all my hard work in place. This stuff is like glue for my brows. My brows stay in place all day long and it doesn’t even feel like I’ve got anything on.

As my soft glam looks are always focused on making my base look amazing, I don’t spend too long on my eyes, especially when I’m in a rush. I use my Sephora Contour Eye Pencil in Cappucino to create a soft brown wing + follow up with my L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara to lengthen my lashes.

Top – MAC Bronzer / Middle – Essence Blush / Bottom – Laura Geller Highlight

No look is complete without some bronzer and I have been loving my MAC Bronzer in Golden. It’s a really nice warm toned bronzer that adds a really subtle golden glow to the skin. I like using this product to add some warmth to my face and I love how buildable it is. It’s a really light weight product so it isn’t very pigmented which I like so I can build up the type of coverage that I want. I apply some to my cheeks, my forehead and jawline so I look naturally bronzed up. This is the perfect product for a natural bronzed look that doesn’t look overdone at all.

I recently got my hands on the Essence Satin Touch Blush in Satin Bronze and oh my god I freaking love it. I’ve been looking for a muted peachy/nude blush that looks really natural and subtle on the skin so I practically launched for this blush when I saw it. The blush is very pigmented and has a pretty satin finish to it. For £1 – yeah, you read that right – this is an absolute bargain! I got mine from Wilko’s, but Ulta Beauty also stocks this brand for all my American babes out there.

As I mentioned before, I’ve been loving soft glam looks recently so I’ve been reaching for my Laura Geller Highlight* every time I do my makeup. This is a beautiful gold highlight that makes my skin look so radiant + glowy. I like applying this highlight to all the high points of my face, spraying some setting spray on top and going over it with a beauty blender just to make it look less powdery and last longer. It’s my favourite highlighter to use as it looks amazing on olive/tan skin tones.

Left – Essence Lipgloss / Right – MAC Lipstick

I have been loving a pinky/nude lip recently and I really don’t think you can have too many nude lip options, you really cannot. I’ve been wearing my MAC Lustre Lipstick in See Sheer which is a super lightweight satin mauve/pink lipstick that feels super comfortable on the lips. I like wearing this lipstick on its own as it is very sheer but I also like to apply my Essence Lipgloss in 07 on top as I’ve been completely obsessed with glossy lips recently.

And then to set everything in place I spray my  Estée Lauder Set + Refresh Perfecting Makeup Mist all over my face so that it looks fresh and glory all day long. I have been loving this spray ever since I bought it as it makes my skin look so dewy and really helps all the powders blend together.

Ready Set Glow

I know Summer is coming to an end *long, heavy sigh* but that doesn’t have to mean we have to stop glowing. Am I right or am I right?

In this post I want to chat about my ultimate products that I use whenever I want to just glow, glow, glow, which is pretty much always. I’m going to jump right in with my Avène Hydrance Optimale Light Moisturiser (£14.00) because the most important step for glowy + hydrated makeup is skincare, and this is my fave moisturiser ever. I have pretty sensitive skin so this moisturiser works really well for me. It’s light, super hydrating and sinks really well into the skin. Because this moisturiser is so hydrating, it leaves my skin looking really healthy and dewy. I use it morning and night straight after I’ve cleansed my skin and it has literally changed the texture of my skin. My skin feels so much softer and smoother compared to how it was before I used this moisturiser. Plus I tend to get less breakouts too, which could be down to the fact that this moisturiser is quite light and works a lot better for my skin type. Whatever it is, it is definitely my holy grail skincare product.

There is nothing I love more than a refreshing and hydrating makeup mist. I recently bought the Estée Lauder Set + Refresh Perfecting Makeup Mist (£20.00) and it’s already a favourite of mine. The spray is ultra fine and super refreshing for my skin. I spray it all my face after I’ve done my makeup, just to lock everything in and make my skin look nice and dewy. I also like using it when I’m not wearing makeup because of how refreshed it makes my skin feel. I’ve always sworn by my Smashbox Photo Finish Water Primer, so I’m quite surprised (and glad) to be loving something just as much.

I absolutely love having glowy skin whenever I’m wearing makeup and even when I’m not, which is why I always reach for my L’oreal Lumi Magique Primer (£10.99). I honestly love this primer so much, I cannot do my makeup without it. It gives my skin such a gorgeous glow and my makeup looks so radiant and dewy which I love. This is a really hydrating and luminous primer so it is perfect for dry skin. I’m quite oily, but I still love using this primer on my cheeks and all the high points of my face. This is also a really, really good dupe for the MAC Strobe Cream if you’re looking for the same luminous glow and not wanting to splurge so much. Cha-ching.

Once I’ve got my skincare and base looking hella glowy, I have to go in with my favourite highlighting/glowy products to really seal the deal. One of my absolute favourite highlighting products has got to be the L’oreal Lumiere Eyeshadow in 500 Gold Mania. This product was 100% love at first swatch. As soon as I saw how beautiful and golden this eyeshadow was, I knew I had to use it as a highlighter. I use this product every time I do my makeup because it gives my skin such a beautiful golden glow. I also like to wet my brush when applying this highlight for a more intense glow, and then lock everything in place with a few spritzes of my makeup mist.

As my focus is on having radiant and healthy skin, I just love using warm toned bronzers that make my skin look naturally glowy. My go to favourite at the moment is my MAC Bronzing Powder in Golden. It’s such a beautiful bronzer that adds a subtle and natural glow to my skin. This is a pigmented product, but it blends out so well, either with a beauty blender or a brush. It adds a really subtle, barely there kind of shimmer to the skin that just looks so beautiful in the light. I like using this bronzer for both natural and glam makeup, because of the warmth it adds to my face. This will definitely be a repurchase for me.

One thing I love doing is going in with my Soap and Glory Wonderbronze Shimmer Brick on top of the MAC bronzer, just to add a more browny/golden glow to the skin. I always use this product on top of a bronzer as it is quite sheer so I use it to add a subtle shimmer to the skin. I also really like using the bronze shades individually as eyeshadows and they work really well, especially when applied with a wet brush so the pigment is more intense.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and please let me know your must haves for glowy skin!

The Estée Edit

My key tools for glowy, everyday makeup.

There is nothing more I love than glowy, natural looking skin that looks super effortless and healthy… especially in the mornings. I don’t like wearing full coverage everyday because A. I don’t want to spend that long on my face and B. I prefer light coverage and natural looking skin for everyday makeup. Which is why today’s post is dedicate to my two favourite Estée Lauder products that do amazing things for my skin.

In the shade, Cashew.

I’ve already spoken about the Nude Cushion Stick Foundation in my latest post, but I feel like I want to speak about it in more detail and cover some points I feel I missed in the previous post. I seriously cannot get over just how dewy this foundation makes my skin look. It’s a super light foundation and it has a very sheer coverage, so if you prefer something that’s more full coverage, matte and will just completely smooth your skin out, then you may not love this foundation. But, if like me you’re looking for a product that has a light formula and feels like you’re not even wearing anything then this foundation is the one.

The instructions on the back of the packaging recommend you apply and buff the foundation with the sponge applicator that comes on top of the foundation stick, but I’m not really crazy about it so that was a pass for me. I use the beauty blender when applying this (and pretty much any other) foundation for a more seamless finish and I just really like the way the application looks with this method. I apply just one layer of this foundation and my skin just looks like my skin but better. If I want a little more coverage I will go in with a couple more layers and because this foundation is so sheer, it doesn’t look heavy or cakey at all. As this is a pretty sheer/liquidy foundation, it isn’t super buildable as it is meant to be quite light and dewy, so if you guys prefer layering your foundation, you probably won’t be crazy about this. BUT, if you love something light and dewy, then honestly, this foundation is the bomb! I have to set my t-zone really well with this product (with a mattifying primer and some translucent setting powder) as I get quite oily during the day, so I just have to work a little to keep that shine at bay. You see what I did there? Oh yeah.

I also recently got my hands on the Estée Lauder Set + Refresh Perfecting Makeup Mist  and I really like it. The spray is super fine and it spreads so nicely across my face. The smell is really really nice and it instantly refreshes my makeup. I use this mist before makeup, after I have cleansed and moisturised my face for a subtle glow and hydration before I apply makeup. And then a few spritzes after I’ve done my makeup to set everything in place.

I also love using this mist even when I’m  not wearing makeup just for some quick hydration and a wake me up for the mornings, because the struggle is real. I prefer using light and hydrating mists to set + refresh my makeup so I absolutely love this product. It reminds me of the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water which I have used and adored, so I can tell this mist will be another fave of mine. For £20 this is a great buy and I would 100% recommend.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading my short post and found it somewhat informative. Please do share some of the products you have been loving! I’m always on the lookout for some amazing buys

Best Of Beauty: Foundations and Concealers

My absolute essentials when it comes to a flawless base.

One of the most important things for me when I’m doing my makeup is having a perfect base and it’s what I spend most of my time onexcept for brows, they can be pretty pesky sometimes. Today’s post will be all about my favourite base products that I use and find myself reaching for pretty much all the time.

Let’s kick things off with the NYX Total Control Foundation*. I recently bought this foundation and have only worn it a few times, but I am already in love, it’s so amazing. It’s a full on matte foundation and you get to choose how light/full you want the coverage which I think is really useful because you don’t always want the same coverage. I usually go for a medium coverage for everyday makeup which is about 3 layers with this foundation and if I want something sheer + lightweight with a skin like finish I would apply 2 layers; 4 layers or above would give me full coverage, but obviously everyone has different preferences so you would just have to experiment and see what works best for you. I have quite an oily t-zone which gets shinier throughout the day, but I seriously only had to touch up once in 10 hours whilst I was wearing this foundation. If you’re looking for a matte foundation with a choice of what sort of coverage you want + minimal touch ups then I would totally recommend this foundation, it’s definitely worth trying out.

When it comes to concealer I’m quite fussy because I want to use something that is long lasting and natural looking, which is why I have to mention the MAC Studio Finish Concealer Duo*. I was given this concealer as a birthday gift last year and I’m so happy I have this product in my life. This is a duo concealer set; the peachy shade is for colour correcting and the lighter shade is for concealing/highlighting. I don’t typically use this product to colour correct my dark circles as I don’t like layering products underneath my eyes because they tend to crease, but this concealer is the bomb. It’s lightweight, full coverage, long lasting and does not crease, that’s pretty much all you need in a concealer and in life.

This post would not be complete without mentioning my NARS Sheerglow Foundation* as it is an absolute fave of mine. This was my first high end foundation I bought; I specifically went to Selfridge’s in Birmingham for my birthday so I could buy this foundation and it was so worth it. This foundation feels so light on the skin as it’s quite a sheer formula yet it gives me the best coverage. Some foundations can leave my skin feeling quite dry after application but the NARS Sheerglow feels very hydrating and it doesn’t even feel like I’m wearing foundation, my skin seriously feels naked. I love using this foundation for events/parties because it gives my skin a really gorgeous glow which also photographs really well and it seriously lasts all day long. This is the foundation I reach for when I’m feeling medium to full coverage but I still want my skin to look and feel like skin. Even though I have got an oily t-zone, I still love using sheer/glowy foundations. Priming and setting correctly really does help tackle the issue, and it means I can use my faves without worrying about shine.

Okay, so pretty much everyone and their mum has tried the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer*, I mean it’s a cult classic and for a good reason, it is epic. This is a full coverage and super long lasting concealer and I honestly cannot do my makeup without it anymore, like what was I even doing before this? I don’t know. There are so many shades to choose from + to suit all skin tones which I think is awesome. I seriously only use the smallest amount as it blends really well and smoothes out the skin/covers up any pigmentation and darkness really well.

So I watched Tanya Cheban try the Estee Lauder Nude Cushion Stick Foundation* out in her makeup tutorial and I really liked how dewy and glowy it looked on her skin so I really just had to try it out for myself. I’ve used the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and I love that so I felt quite good about this foundation and I am not disappointed. The way this foundation makes my skin look, oh my god, it’s got me feeling some sort of way because gurrrl let me tell you, my skin just cannot look better with anything else. After application my skin looks so glowy and natural, literally just my skin but better and it wears so well throughout the day. It’s not a super long lasting foundation (the packaging says 8 hrs) but I think that’s because of how liquidy the formula is. If you prefer full coverage, super long lasting and matte looks then you probs won’t love this foundation, but, if you want something glowy and dewy with a satin finish and decent coverage then this is the foundation for you my friend. Oh and if you sign up on the Estee Lauder website, you’ll get a promotional offer of 15% off you first order off of everything and free delivery, don’t say I don’t look out for you guys.

Summer Beauty Essentials

summer beauty.JPGOmg hey you, how’ve you been? It’s been a while.

So I know I’ve been gone for what seems like forever, but now I’m back, like properly back. If you read my blog on the reg, which I’m hoping all you lovely lot do, or you follow me on my social media, you’ll know that I was in India for two months visiting my husband + getting roasted AF in the heat. LOL jokes I barely went out in the sun. If you’ve experienced 45+ heat for more than 2 weeks, you know the struggles. But anyway, now that we’ve got my welcome back out the way, let’s get onto the good stuff: my make up faves this season!

This post features some oldies but goodies, and newbies that I just cannot do without. Let’s start with an old favourite of mine. I’ve raved about the Givenchy Tint Couture Foundation in Elegant Gold in this post before and I just can’t stop talking about it. It’s a really buildable foundation so I can either go for a sheer, light finish or apply more layers if I want something more high coverage without it looking cakey. I also love the satin/dewy finish I get with this product. You know I’m here for it.

Speaking of foundations, I recently bought the NYX Total Control Drop Foundation in Beige and oh my god it’s the best thing ever. You’ve probably already seen this foundation everywhere already – all the blog posts and the youtube reviews – so I just want to throw my own little review out there. I really really like this foundation because of how buildable it is and I get to control the type of finish I want, duh total control. I’d seen that some people didn’t get along with this foundation as they didn’t find it high coverage/long lasting enough so I was slightly sceptical about using it, but I thought I’d give it fair chance and try it out myself, and boy am I glad that I did. I wore it for 10 hours the other day and I touched up once on my forehead, I mean that is insane. So for all my oily skin babes out there, this is the foundation for you.

A new season means new favourite lip products, of course. I’m a sucker for the perfect nude lippy so when I saw Tanya Cheban (one of my faves) use the most gorgrous peachy nude lipstick in her everyday makeup tutorial, I just knew I had to get my hands on it. The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm is hands down one of my fave go to lip colours right now, it is unreal. It is such a beautiful peachy nude colour and so comfortable to wear on the lips, it honestly doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything. I find some liquid lipsticks quite drying, but this one is more creamy so it doesn’t feel like you’ve got sandpaper for lips. I actually have quite a few NYX Lip Creams (Abu Dhabi + Cannes are two of my other faves) and I love them so much, there are so many gorgeous shades to choose from, and for £6, I’m here for it.

Another favourite lip product this season is my MAC Matte Lipstick in So Chaud, I am obsessed. This is a really stunning orange shade and perfectly compliments my warmer undertones. It’s not drying at all and it is so long lasting; I barely need to touch up when I’m wearing it. I absolutely love wearing this lipstick when I’m going for a simple yet bold look, so like minimal/no eye makeup and then a poppin’ orange lip will always be a winning look for me.

The Makeup Revolution Blush Palette in Hot Spice has become my fave go to blush palette this season and I am loving it. I bought this palette because I wanted some warm toned blushes that would suit my skin tone really well, and I’m glad to say this palette has delivered 100%. This is a peachy/coraly palette so the colours are pretty warm with two shimmery/highlight colours to add a lil’ extra something to your beat and you know I’m all about that. Plus the blushes are pretty pigmented so you get such a beaut colour pay off, and isn’t that just what we all want in life?

I absolutely cannot resist a warm toned bronzer and the MAC Bronzing Powder in Golden is a must have not only this season, but pretty much all year round. I really like having a nice and subtle golden glow so this bronzer is absolutely perfect for me. I love using it on its own for a natural finish or as base if I want something a bit more glam. I use this bronzer for pretty much all of my makeup looks because of the warmth it adds to my face and how seamlessly it blends in with the rest of my make up, ugh I love it.

I really hope you guys enjoyed my post back, I really missed talking about my fave beauty products and sharing them with you guys. Thanks so much for reading huns,
