My Month In Beauty: Everyday Favourites

glam .JPG

March has been an amazing month. Spring is finally here, and I’ve fallen in love with so many new (and old) beauty products. The Avené Hydrance Optimale Moisturiser has been a life saver for me this month. It’s an old skincare favourite of mine, and I love it. It’s really gentle and super light, which is perfect for sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, and you’re looking for some new products to try out, then I would highly recommend you check out the Avené skincare range.

I’ve spoken about the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Cashew in this post. It’s been one of my favourite foundations for a while, and I love mixing it in with my Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 220 for a medium to high coverage. I tend to use the Double Wear foundation on its own when I want a full coverage look because it’s really good at covering up blemishes/scarring that I have on my skin.

I’ve been obsessed with the L’Oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara forever, because it gives me the most amazing volumised lashes. Which is why I decided to test out two other L’Oreal Mascaras. I picked up the Telescopic Mascara and the False Lash Flutter Midnight Mascara. I’ve heard bloggers/Youtubers/friends rave about both these mascaras and I can see why, they’re amazing. I love using the Telescopic mascara for daytime/casual wear because it makes my lashes look more defined. The Midnight mascara makes my lashes look so fluttery (so it does exactly what it says) and wispy which I love. I really think you need different mascaras for different looks; sometimes you want to be bold, and sometimes you just want something more natural.

Since brows became a thing, I’ve tried and tested many brow setting products. I ran out of my trusty NYX Makeup Control Freak Eyebrow Gel, so I decided to try out something different. I picked up the Max Factor Universal Brow Styler. It’s a pretty good brow gel, it sets my brows well, and I don’t get a goopy feeling like with some other products I’ve used. But it doesn’t have as strong a hold that I would like. So, I don’t think it’ll be replacing my love for the NYX brow gel anytime soon. Sorry Max Factor.

Is it just me or does anyone else just love buying new lipsticks for each season? Yeah, I think a lot of us like to do this (kinda wishing there were more seasons, right?) My No7 Lipstick in Deep Rust has been my go to lip colour this month. It’s a gorgeous burnt orange shade which I love, and I find myself reaching for it all the time. But just because it’s Spring, doesn’t mean you can’t rock a nude lip. My current faves are MAC Velvet Teddy (I usually mix this with another colour), and Maybelline Color Sensational in Nude Embrace. I’ve also been loving the L’Oreal Colour Riche in Beige A Nu.

Another product I already talked about and still can’t get enough of is the Freedom Pro Blush Palette in Bronze Baked. It is seriously, an amazing palette, and I’m on my third one now, because I love it so much. I forgot to take it with me to India for my wedding, and I was devastated (like when you’re fave white top gets an irremovable stain on it devastated). The blush colours in this palette are insane. They’re so pretty and pink. I love using the shimmery pink shade on my cheeks for a subtle glow. But the highlighters are what stole my heart when I first bought this palette. There’s a bronze highlighter that I love using for a golden glow, and a pearly one that I use on the tops of my cheeks (and cupid’s bow, bridge of my nose and brow bone) for a more iridescent look.

I’d love to know what you’ve been loving this month, because it gives me an excuse to try more things out. Not that I need an excuse. If you liked reading this post, then please give it a like, and if you really like my blog then maybe give me a follow? *winks suggestively* Much love to you all.

The Roundup: My Favourite Beauty Products For March

As March is coming to a close (which I still cannot get over, can you believe we’re going into the fourth month of the year? What?) I wanted to share with you guys the products I used and loved the most this month. The Roundup is a new series that will be featuring on my blog and I am super excited about it. Beauty related topics will be a big part of this series (obvs), but I will also be talking about lifestyle and fashion topics too (does that mean I can buy more clothes?)

I’ve used a lot of my old favourites this month, but I’ve also used some new products that I’ve fallen in love with. My Givenchy Teint Couture Foundation in Elegant Gold has been my go to foundation this month. It’s really long lasting and has the best coverage. I’ve done a first impressions post on this foundation and why I love it so much, so you can check that out too. I literally use the smallest amount, and it gives me such good coverage. It seriously feels like I’m photoshopping my blemishes away. This is a pretty matte foundation but it still gives my skin a dewy look which I love. I’ve also been loving the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Biscuit this month (and pretty much all of the time). Number one reason I love it so much: it does NOT crease, at all. I have dark circles, bags under my eyes (unfortunately they’re not designer), so I need a concealer that combats these problems AND stays put. That’s why I love the NARS concealer. There are other drugstore concealers I really like (Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer and the L’Oréal Lumi Magique Concealer), but the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is definitely my ride or die ATM.

Talking of concealers, I’m loving the Stila Perfecting Concealer in EIt’s not an everyday concealer for me, because it is quite high coverage, so I tend to use it whenever I want my makeup to last and stay put. And just an FYI it does require a bit of effort to blend, but it’s nothing a damp Beauty Blender can’t handle.

I bought the MAC Mineralise Skinfinish in Medium Golden a few months back, and it gives my skin a really nice, healthy glow. It’s very pigmented so I just slightly dust it over my face after I’ve done my foundation/concealer. I also really like the bronzey effect I get with this powder. Another MAC product I’ve been loving is the Pro Longwear Colour Stick in Tabby. If you’ve read my recent post, then you’ll know that I love highlighting. The colour stick is such an effortless way to add some highlight to your makeup, and I love how subtle it is.

Have you guys tried some of the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products? I think a lot of us have, aren’t they amazing? I literally don’t remember a time before the ABH Brow Wiz in GraniteSince using this pencil, my brow game has changed massively! Do you see that browvolution? I love the consistency of this pencil, it’s quite waxy, so you can gradually build up the darkness/depth of your brows. Naturally, I had to give the ABH Dipbrow Pomade in Granite a go. It’s is a really great product, and I tend to use it after my Brow Wiz, just to build up on the darkness of my brows. It dries out after a while, but just add some baby oil into it and it should be good as new.

I decided to use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Cream because I needed a good, hydrating moisturiser for my skin. I use it all the time before I put on my makeup because it’s so moisturising. Some rich moisturisers tend to be quite sticky, and just sit on top of the skin, but the Clinique moisturiser is amazing. I would highly recommend getting this moisturiser (especially if you have dry skin) because it’s too good not to have.

This post wouldn’t be complete without my favourite lip products. I’ve been loving the NYX Lingerie Lipstick in Exotic and I’ve worn it so much this month. It’s so hydrating for a matte lipstick, and it doesn’t transfer (so no lipstick marks on your Starbucks cup). I’ve also been loving the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in San Paulo and Abu Dhabi. They’re such everyday colours and so soft. I also bought two Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks in Bacca and RiccoThey’re super matte, and the colours are just beautiful.

Can’t forget my Freedom Pro Blush Palette in Bronze BakedThis palette is just *heart eyed emoji* it’s incredible. The colours are so pigmented and it is my go to for every makeup look. The blush colours are so pretty, and the bronze highlight is stunning. For £6 (yes, £6), not owning this palette is sinful. I feel like one paragraph isn’t enough, I’m definitely going to have to do a post on this palette (and some other Freedom products I love) so stay tuned.

What have you guys been loving this month? Anything new and exciting you’ve fallen in love with? Or any oldies you can’t live without? Let me know down in the comments below.

Give Me The Glow: My Favourite Highlighters

glow products

I love glowy skin, and I love playing around with my favourite highlighters to get that poppin’ glow. I use the L’oreal True Match Highlighter in Golden Glow and the Maybelliene Strobing Stick on bare skin before I put on any of my base makeup. This combination gives me a really nice and subtle dewy effect, and it’s a really good base to work with.

I’ve mentioned the Elizabeth Arden Liquid Highlighter in a previous post, and I am still loving it. It is such a gorgeous golden colour, and so so creamy and pigmented. I typically use it after I’ve applied my base makeup with a damp beauty blender, and it gives such a nice sheen to the skin. This is a really buildable product and I find myself reaching for it whenever I’m doing my makeup. Plus it smells amazing.

The Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Highlighter in Gilded Honey is definitely one of my all time favourites; I mean I used it on my wedding day (which says it all). I bought this highlighter a few months ago, and I fell in love with it from the first use. It’s very pigmented, but I would 100% recommend using it with a damp beauty blender and topping it off with some setting spray, if you really want to slay all day. My current favourite setting sprays are the Smashbox Water Primer and the Urban Decay Setting Spray.

glow up

The Sleek Highlight Palette is so beautiful, and super pigmented. There are four gorgeous colours to choose from, and I love them all. I love using these highlighters for both a minimal makeup day to give my skin a healthy glow and for full on glam. I use the lightest highlight shade for my brow bone, cupids bow and the centre of my nose, and a combination of the purpley/peachy shades for the tops of my cheeks (yeah, you guessed it, with a beauty blender).

I swatched the L’oreal Lumiere Eyeshadow in 500 Gold Mania in Boots, and it was so pigmented that I couldn’t not buy it. This eyeshadow is super long lasting, and because it’s so creamy it’s really easy to blend. This eyeshadow is perfect if you want to glow up on a budget

I’ve seen so many other highlighters that I just need in my life (because I’m practically a makeup magpie). I mean have you seen the Limited Edition Ofra Cosmetics Highlighter in Blissful? And the Anastasia Ultimate Glow Kit which just looks amazing. Oh, and how can I forget, the Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Opal. I just want to slay my highlight game, and make sure I glow up everyday.

Thanks for reading everyone, let me know what products you use to get that glowy goddess look. I’m always looking to expand my highlight collection.

Waiting For My Husband + New York

new york

“I can’t wait to do everything we’ve planned together, and I can’t wait till you finally get here!” This is something I say to my husband on a regular basis whenever we talk, because that is the only thing to do when we’re sat 100 miles away from each other, just talk. If you follow me on Insta or Twitter, you will know that I got married in December in India (you can read more about that in this post). However, because of the whole immigration process, my husband is still in India (which totally sucks). It’s hard work and I’ve spoken about what it’s like to be in a long distance marriage, which you can read about here

The only good thing that comes out of being apart is that we have so much time to talk, so we are always making plans. We talk about all the things that we want to do once he gets his ass here. One of the things we’ve planned is going to New York this Christmas (just talking about this gives me feels). If you know me, like at all, then you’ll know that going to NYC has been a huge dream for me since forever. I’ll admit it, a little bit of it is because of watching Friends. The idea of sitting around in a coffee shop after shopping around in Macy’s or Bloomingdales (and omg Sephora?!) is just so appealing. Am I right?

Going away at the end of this year is a massive thing to look forward to, but aside from that, just spending time with my husband is something I just cannot wait to do. Seeing friends go out on dates with their boyfriends/partners and talking about how much fun they had shopping at the weekend is when I feel really shitty about the fact that despite being married, I’m still in a way… single. I try really hard to stay positive, and remind myself that it’s only temporary, but it’s hard. I don’t hide my feelings from Sonu either, and I’m really upfront with him about it, which is really important when you’re so far away. I do stay positive a lot of the time, but I do allow myself to have those moments where I can be sad, and it’s okay to let yourself have those moments.

But, as I said, we make loooads of plans, and it’s the prospect of doing all these things together that keeps me positive (apart from the times I’m crying into my pillow and have blotchy red cheeks, yeah that’s not pretty). I cannot tell you how excited I am to just go out for dinner, Netflix and chill (literally) and you know, other couple-y things. I’m just eagerly waiting for the next few weeks to just fly by, like a kid  all of us at christmas waiting to rip open her presents.

I have a lot to look forward to this year, and I just cannot wait for Sonu to get here. Even if that means having to share wardrobe space (where will all my clothes go?) I think between the two of us, we could actually set up our own stores with the amount of clothes we have. I do seriously think he’s more of a shopaholic than me, I didn’t even think that could ever happen.

Once the waiting period is over, I can’t wait to share with you guys all the amazing things we get up to. I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post, make sure you come and follow me on Instagram or Twitter, I’d love to say hi to you all!

My Honeymoon In The Maldives

Hey everyone,

I’ve been wanting to write about my amazing time in the Maldives for a while, but I kept getting distracted, by you know, stuff and things. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, I got married in December (you can read all about that here)and I had my honeymoon in the Maldives; I sometimes still can’t believe it. I cannot even begin to describe how beautiful this place is, it’s just absolutely incredible (everything you see on Instagram is true).

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort, Kandooma a 5 star hotel and totally worth staying at. The service was faultless, and the weather was stunning. We were lucky that the five days we were there for, we had gorgeous sunshine the entire time (the week after there were thunderstorms, ouch).

The airport was on the main island, Malé, which was a 40 minute speedboat ride away from the resort. That was my  very first speedboat experience and I loved it, even though I was extremely tired from the plane journey so I feel asleep for most of it, oops.

We travelled from Northern India where it was absolutely freezing, so when we arrived, I was so excited to be in the sun (I was tired of wearing about 4 layers of clothing at all times). When we arrived to the hotel, our luggage was taken to our room, and we were offered a refreshing lychee drink (it was so tasty) in the lounge whilst we were waiting to be checked in. We were given a brief introduction to the island; where to eat and the sorts of activities that were available, after which we were dropped of to our room in a cute little buggy.

Our amazing view at breakfast.

Every morning there was a buffet style breakfast, from cereal to full English breakfasts, and a lot of other amazing dishes from all over the world. Despite there being options for so many tasty foods, I couldn’t really stomach the idea of having a huge plateful of food early in the morning so I usually just had cereal (I know, boring).

We had a sea view room with a cute little balcony as well where you could sit and have breakfast, or just chill out. The bathroom was amazing; the shower was separated by a glass door and it overlooked the beach (with privacy of course).

The entire island was just so scenic (as you can expect), and it’s the perfect place for a honeymoon. I’m so grateful that I spent the first few days after getting married in such a beautiful place, just relaxing with my husband. We spent time together, explored the island, went swimming and to top it all off, we had a Maldivian photoshoot. We decided that as we were in such a stunning place, we had to make the most of it.

We had an unforgettable time in the Maldives, and an amazing time at the Kandooma Resort. Everything from the food to the weather was just perfect.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post, and let me know where you went on your honeymoon or where you’d like to go.

What’s In My March Makeup Bag

Hey guys,

As it’s officially spring, I wanted to share with you all the contents of my March makeup bag. It’s the season of pink lipsticks, orange cut creases and peachy blush (not that you can’t rock all of this whatever the season, you do you). I’ve got a few new additions, and a couple of old favourites, and I would love to share them with you.

march makeup

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation

This has got to be my favourite highstreet foundation at the moment and I am loving it. It’s super lightweight so it’s great for the days I just want minimal coverage, but it’s also buildable without looking cakey (mm, cake). I usually pick up this foundation in the shade 220, but as I am currently still a bit tan from India (I know right, still?!) I mix in a bit of Estee Lauder Double Wear (in the shade Cashew) which works really well when I want to go for a full coverage look. This is definitely my ride or die foundation right now, and I’ve stocked up quite a bit, you gotta do what you gotta do.

The Balm Cosmetics Hot Mama Blusher

When I first swatched this blusher, the first thought that came to my mind was, ‘Orgasm’… I mean NARS, orgasm (seriously guys). The Hot Mama Blusher is a complete dupe of NARS, Orgasm, but a fraction of the price. I have used both blushers and I can tell you that there is no difference. I love the Hot Mama blusher, it’s nice and shimmery, and it gives you a gorgeous peachy/pinky glow. Plus look at the packaging, doesn’t it just make you want to go on a vacay?

Loreal Infalliable Blush Paint Palette, Ambers

This palette smells incredible.

I was watching a makeup tutorial by Kaushal Beauty and she uses this palette as a part of her look, and it was so beautiful that I just couldn’t resist buying this palette. This palette has 5 beautiful colours to play around with, from pretty peaches/pinks to coppery orange. There’s also matte finishes as well as a more shimmery option. You’ve basically got it all. You can even use these blushes to create some amazing eye looks too (watch Kaushal’s tutorial on how to do that).

N07 Lipsticks

I’ve been using No7 Lipsticks for years, and I absolutely love them. There are so many colours to choose from, I mean I could spend all day trying to decide which lipstick (or three) I want. I bought two new shades recently which are so perfect for spring, and I find myself reaching for them all the time. They’re really long lasting and have quickly become favourites of mine. If you’re looking for a creamy, super rich colour then these lipsticks are a great option.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading my current favourites for March, let me know what you’re loving at the moment in the comments down below.

Caring For Sensitive Skin

Hey guys,

Today I want to talk to you about the skincare products that I have been absolutely loving for the past few months. Around about October time, I started breaking out a lot more than usual (it wasn’t pretty), and none of my usual spot treatments were working  (you can imagine the panic). So, I decided to completely revamp my skincare routine and properly pay attention to the sorts of products I was using and how my skin was reacting to them. And I kid you not guys, it’s completely changed my life (definitely not being OTT here).

I have quite sensitive and blemish prone skin, so I wanted to use products that would be gentle and help reduce breakouts (basically something that would make my skin look fresh). I had been dying to try out La Roche Posay products forever, and I had read so many reviews about how amazing their products are, so obviously I decided to give them a go. There’s also something about a discount at the bottom you’re gonna want to check out.

La Roche Posay.jpg
Left to right: Thermal Spring Water, Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser, Cicaplast Baume B5 Moisturiser

Let me tell you one thing, I am so glad I bought these products! Ever since using them I haven’t even considered using anything else. The products are all made in France, and there is a massive range of products to suit all skin types; whether you have sensitivity, pigmentation, blemishes/acne scars (just to list a few) – there are products to combat pretty much all skin issues. There is a lot of information on the La Roche Posay website about how to take better care of your skin and of course all the amazing products they have. Oh, and a majority of the products are all free of nasty chemicals (winning).

The Toleriane Dermo Cleanser (£11.00) was the first thing I bought, and I am never letting it run out (I took 4 bottles of it to India with me). This is the best cleanser I have ever used, and I cannot praise it enough. The whole Toleriane range contains a whole range of high tolerance products to treat even the most intolerant and sensitive skin. It can be quite overwhelming to decide which product is best, and what is going to work, but you can speak to someone online on their website, or on their Facebook page for some advice. One of the consultants I spoke to recommended the Toleriane Dermo Cleanser because it’s the best for even the most sensitive skin. I’ve been using this cleanser for 5 months now, and I love love love it! I can see a huge difference in my skin and it’s definitely a lot less reactive. When I first started using the cleanser, I did have a few breakouts as the thermal spring water was restoring the ph balance of my skin (aka the purging phase). This cleanser has definitely become a holy grail skincare product, and I am so glad I found it.

I bought a small bottle of the Thermal Spring Water (£3.50) because I wanted to try out a product that would soothe and refresh my skin after cleansing. This facial spray has become a favourite of mine and I can’t believe I didn’t buy it sooner. I use it after cleansing my skin to soothe any irritation, and also as a setting spray to help keep my makeup looking nice and fresh. Plus the smaller can is travel friendly, so you can take it with you anywhere (it’s great to freshen up your skin when you’re on a long haul flight).

Sometimes our skin needs some extra loving and a bit of TLC (especially after the rough winter months when skin can be a bit dull). The Cicaplast Baume B5 is a real treat for the skin and it’s become an essential whenever my skin needs more nourishment. I tend to use this product before I go to bed as it is quite rich, and I wake up with my skin feeling super moisturised and super soft.

There is 25% off all La Roche Posay Products over at feelunique – make sure you check it out.

How do you guys like to take care of your sensitive skin? What are the products that you use and love? Let me know in the comments below, I’m always up for checking out new products. Hope you guys enjoyed this post, thanks for reading.
